Government Shutdown Alert! National parks remain as accessible as possible during the federal government shutdown. However, some services at Mesa Verde National Park are limited or unavailable. Cultural sites including, cliff dwellings are closed. Currently, the main park road and trails leaving the Morefield Campground are open.
The Mesa Verde Visitor and Research Center, Mesa Verde Museum, Mesa Top Loop, Cliff Palace Loop, and all other trails are closed. All tours and other ranger led events are cancelled. Other closures may exist.
Mesa Verde National Park is Open Daily, Year-Round
The operating hours for NPS facilities and services depends on the season. For detailed information, visit Mesa Verde Operating Hours & Seasons. The Visitor Center and Museum are only closed on the Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Day holidays. Please check Mesa Verde Conditions and Alerts for current information about any park closures due to weather or other circumstances.
Reservations are not required to enter Mesa Verde National Park
An entrance pass is necessary when visiting the park. Valid entrance passes include a Mesa Verde standard 7-day pass, Mesa Verde annual pass, or an America the Beautiful pass. All passes are available for purchase online ahead of your visit or upon your arrival at the park entrance station. The Mesa Verde entrance station does not accept cash and all pass purchases must be made with a valid debit or credit card. In the event the entrance station is closed upon your arrival you may purchase your pass online using the WiFi available at the Visitor Center or Museum. Ranger-Led Tour Reservations are required to enter Cliff Dwellings
With the exception of Step House on Wetherill Mesa, resrvations on a ranger-led tour are required in order to enter all cliff dwellings. The cliff dwelling tour season typically begins in May and ends in October. Tour reservations can only be made on recreation.gov or by calling 1-877-444-6777.
